Girls and young women are often disadvantaged economically when they do not have a marketable skill. Students chosen by the community are sponsored to attend a sewing and knitting class for a three month curriculum. At the conclusion of training, $75 of the donation is used towards the purchase of a foot pedal-powered sewing machine. In this way, young women can be financially independent and help support their families.
